Is this program right for you?
Is the "Envision the Rhythms of Life Program for you?" This program was created specifically to reduce what the Institute of Medicine (IOM) refers to as the late-term and long-term effects of cancer treatment. For breast cancer survivors, those effects manifest as symptoms that include:
- Cognitive challenges (often referred to as "chemo brain")
- Unremitting fatigue
- Sleep deprivation
- Anxiety
- Depression
Some breast cancer survivors may not have experienced any of these symptoms, or if they did, those symptoms may have gone away on their own shortly after completion of cancer treatment. However, many breast cancer survivors continue to have one, two, three or all of these symptoms for months, even years after completing their surgery, chemotherapy, and/or radiation. If you are an individual still suffering from one or more of these symptoms, you may want to ask yourself the following questions.
- Have you completed your conventional cancer treatment or will you complete treatment soon? In other words, have you completed the surgery, intravenous-chemotherapy and/or radiation that was selected for your cancer treatment plan? Your plan may have included only one of these or all three.
- Are the long-term and late-term symptoms described above impacting the quality of your life?
- Do those symptoms bother you enough that you are committed to doing something to alleviate them?
- Are you interested in learning about the science behind mind-body effects and becoming a "mini-expert" in that information?
- Are you willing to take part in 20 hours of cutting edge, mind-body training?
- Are you willing to incorporate what you learn in class into your daily life and to practice the techniques you are taught?
If you answer yes to these six questions, you may be an excellent candidate for the program.
